予想トピックで英作文を書いてみる企画です。トピックは「9月入学」。前回は賛成サイドの英作文をご紹介しました。

今回は逆サイドの反対英作文例を書いてみます。

日本の学校は9月入学にシフトすべきか

「9月入学」に反対する理由

・9月入学は世界のスタンダードではない（韓国・オーストラリアなど）

・日本は日本のルールでやればよい
Japan should be proud of having its own rules.

・変更によって不便や混乱が起こる。入試、就活など。
The shift would cause a lot of inconvenience and confusion. for example, entrance examinations and job hunting.

以上をもとに英作文を書いてみました。

英作文例（2級：80-100語）

I do not think Japanese schools should start in September. There are two reasons why I think so.   First of all, not all countries start their school year in September. For instance, South Korea start in March and Australia start in February. Each country has its own rules. Therefore, Japan should be proud of having its own rules. Secondly, the shift would cause a lot of inconvenience and confusion. For instance, the schedule of entrance examinations and job hunting have to change. For these reasons, Japanese schools should not change the start of the school year from April to September. (100語）

対訳：日本の学校は9月入学にすべきではありません。理由は２つ。
まず、すべての国が9月はじまりなわけではない。例えば韓国は3月、オーストラリアは2月だ。各国にはそれぞれのルールがある。日本は日本のやり方を誇るべきだ。
2つめの理由は、変更によって不便や混乱が起こる。例えば、入試や就活スケジュールを替えなければならない。
以上により、日本ば学期の始まりを4月から9月に変更すべきではない。

英作文例（準1級：120-150語）

Some people argue shifting the start of the school year to September can accelerate the Japan’s globalization. However, I believe it will only bring disturbance and confusion into our society. First of all, not all countries start their school year in September. While major countries such as the US start their school year in September, others don’t. For instance, South Korea starts in March and Australia in February. Each country has its own rules. Therefore, Japan should be proud of having its own rules. Secondly, the shift would cause a lot of inconvenience and confusion. Currently, entrance examinations are being held in winter, but it has to be shifted to spring. Official competitions and events for students have to be rescheduled as well as job hunting schedules. Taking these reasons into consideration, we should not change the start of the school year to September. (144語）

対訳：学期の始まりを4月から9月へ変更すれば日本のグローバル化が加速すると言う人もいるが、ただ社会に混乱をもたらすだけだ。
まずすべての国が9月はじまりなわけでない。アメリカなどの大国は9月はじまりだが、他は違う。例えば韓国は3月、オーストラリアは2月だ。各国にはそれぞれのルールがある。日本は日本のやり方を誇るべきだ。
2つめの理由は、変更によって不便や混乱が起こる。現在、入試は冬に行われているが春にシフトしなければならない。公式戦などのスケジュールも変更しなければならない。就活スケジュールもだ。それらを考慮すると、日本の学期を9月に変更すべきではない。

日本でもこれまでに何度か秋入学が検討されたことがあります。日本の学校も世界のメジャーな国に合わせて９月にすべきでしょうか。この問題で英作文を作ってみましょう。

・世界では9月入学の国が多い。（アメリカ、イギリス、フランス、ロシア、中国）

・日本の学生が留学しやすくなる

・日本の大学も留学生を集めやすくなり、経済に良い影響がある
Japanese universities would be able to attract more international students easily. It has a positive impact on the Japanese economy.

以上をもとに英作文を書いてみました。

英作文例（2級：80-100語）

I think Japanese schools should start in September. There are two reasons why I think so.   First of all, in major countries the school year starts in September. Those countries include the US, France and China. If Japanese schools start in September, Japanese students can study in those countries more easily. There is no denying that shifting the start of the school year from April to September would cause confusion and disruption. However, the change has a positive impact on both students and schools. First of all, more students would be encouraged to study abroad. An academic year in major countries starts in September. Such countries include the US, the UK, France and China. If Japanese schools start in September, Japanese high school students would be able to go to college in those countries without wasting time. Students exchange programs would also be conducted more smoothly. Also, Japanese colleges would be more competitive for international students. If they can attract more excellent students internationally, it will help globalize Japanese educational system. It would also stimulate the industries and contribute to revitalization of the Japanese economy. Taking these reasons into consideration, Japanese school year should start in September instead of April. (148語）

対訳：学期の始まりを4月から9月へ変更すれば、混乱が起こることは否定できない。しかし、その変化は生徒、学校ともに良いインパクトをもたらすだろう。
まずより多くの学生が留学しやすくなる。メジャーな国では9月スタートが多い。アメリカ、イギリス、フランス、中国などが含まれる。日本が9月スタートになれば、日本の高校生はこれらの国の大学に、時間をムダにすることなく行くことができる。交換留学制度もよりスムーズに行われるだろう。
また、日本の大学も留学生に対してより競争力が増す。優秀な留学生を惹きつけることができれば、日本の教育システムをグローバル化することもできる。また産業を刺激し、日本経済の復活に貢献できるだろう。
それらを考慮すると、日本の新学期は４月より9月にすべきだ。
