副業は認められるべき？（３）英検準1級ライティング予想問題

10月突入～♪今年も残り3か月！

英検1次試験まで残り1週間。学生さんは中間テストとダブルパンチですね～。どちらもがんばってくださいね。。。

さて、「副業」エッセイ第3弾。今回は disagree のエッセイをご紹介します。

会社は従業員に副業をみとめるべきか？

I disagree that employers should allow their employees to have a side job. I have two reasons to support my opinions. First of all, a side job have a possibility to make bad effect on companies’ productivity. Most of workers who engage in side businesses difficulty have a time to take a break. Thus, they cannot focus on their works and decline productivity. Moreover, a side business have a risk to leak corporate secrets. If the rivals catch confidential information, the companies will be dramatically damaged and the profit goes down. Therefore, the employers should manage their employees to keep the secrets such as skills or knowledge. Based on these two reasons, I strongly suggest that employers restrict their employees to a side business. (124 words)

トピックについて、disagreeの立場で書いてくださいました。

使ったPOINTSは、

productivity→副業が忙しくて充分休養が取れず、生産性ダウン
corporate secrets→企業秘密漏洩の恐れあり

と言う流れで書いてくださいました。すごく自然でわかりやすいです。

現状では正社員の副業を禁止している企業が大半で、上記２つがその主な理由なので、disagreeの方が書きやすいかもしれないですね。

以下に気になった点をピックアップして説明します。

opinion=トピックに対するYes/No

I have two reasons to support my opinions opinion.

導入部で opinions と複数形にされていますが、ここでは

my opinion = I disagree with the topic.

であり、opinionはひとつです。Bodyで述べているのはopinionではなく、reasonsです。

ちょこちょこ文法ミスに注意(Body1)

First of all, a side job have has a possibility to make a bad effect on companies’ productivity. Most of workers who engage in side businesses have difficulty have having a time to take a break. Thus, they cannot focus on their works work and decline their productivity.

・most 人 の場合は of 不要。many of them の場合は of が必要。

・have difficulty ～ing ：～するのが困難だ

・workは「仕事」という意味ではは不可算名詞。worksは「作品」という意味。

単語選び次第で伝わりやすさアップ(Body2)

Moreover, a side business have  has a risk to leak corporate secrets. If the rivals catch confidential information, the companies will be dramatically damaged and the profit goes down. Therefore, the employers should manage their employees to keep the secrets such as skills or knowledge.

単語の選び方を少し変えると、もっと言いたいことがはっきり伝わります。

rivals → competitors

competitorは同業他社のイメージがあります。

to keep the secrets… → to prevent their corporate secrets from being stolen

prevent … from ～するのを防ぐ はライティングでかなり使える表現です。

４．Conclusion

Based on these two reasons, I strongly suggest that employers restrict their employees to a side business. employees’ side businesses.
