「初めて英作文が書けました」

という、嬉しいメールをいただきました。ありがとうございます！

独学で英語を勉強中で、「まだまだ未熟です」とご謙遜ですが、たしかにまだまだ伸びしろがありそうです(*^-^*)

初心者の方によくあるミスなどが見られますので、ご紹介します。

I think that the number of such people wii increase in the future. There are two reasons why I think so.

First reason, it is easier to send e-mail than new year’s cards. Some people are too busy to find time to write cards. However, e-mail is available 24 hours a day.

Second, e-mail is cheaper than new year’s cards. These cards have to buy cards. but e-mail is do not have to buy cards.

For these reasons, I believe that more people will send e-mail by using the Internet .

25歳会社員さん、ありがとうございます。

年賀状は送らない派の英作文です。構成はバッチリですし、必要なことは全部つまっていて、言いたいことがしっかり伝わる英作文になっています。too～to （～すぎて～だ）も効果的に使えていますし、比較級もOKです。

しかし、たまにブロークンな部分がありますので、細かく見ていきましょう。

be動詞の書き忘れ

Body1の最後の方で、e-mail is available　のbe動詞が抜けていました。

このbe動詞が抜ける現象はよく見かけます。be動詞は存在感が薄いのでけっこう忘れられます。しかし、be動詞は主語の状態などを説明する時に使われるとても大事な動詞です。うっかり書き忘れないようにご注意ください。

主語と動詞があっていない

Body２の黄色くハイライトした部分はかなり乱れました。この文は主語がおかしいのです。カードを買わなければならないのは誰でしょう？

peopleですね。

なので、主語と動詞をあわせれば問題ありません。

These cards have to buy cards. but e-mail is do not have to buy cards.

↓

People have to buy cards, but they do not have to buy e-mail.

この部分はもっと具体的に書くこともできます。例えば、

A New Year postcard is about 50 yen, but e-mail is free.

理由がすこしおかしい

ちょっと惜しいのがBody1です。理由が少しおかしいのです。メールは年賀状と違って24時間OKとありますが、年賀状も24時間書くことができるので、説得力に欠けます。わたしだったら、「年賀状を書くのは面倒くさい」の方向で書くかもです。

It is troublesome to write New Year’s cards. First, you need to design the card, then print them, write some personal message on them, and put them into the post. People do not want to spend that much time on New Year’s cards.

I think more people will increase stop sending New-year’s cards. There are two reasons.

First, today, we are very busy for the bad economy. So we do not have much time to write New year’s cards even if it is Japanese tradition. Thanks to technology, we can send messages on the  by e-mail. I think sending New year’s messages on the by e-mails will be more popular instead of than sending New year’s cards.

Second, since traditional Japanese New year’s cards have no envelops and rappings, everyone can look read the messases and personal information easily. I think some people do not want show their personal imformation and messages.

For these rearons I think more people will increase stop sending New year’s cards.

えりっくまさん、ありがとうございます。

えりっくまさんはライティングが苦手でどうしたらよいかわからない。残り1か月、どのように勉強すれば効率が上がるか知りたいとのことです。

かなりお悩みのようなので、どこがダメなのかな～？とじっくり眺めてみたところ、次の2点が原因だと思います。

文法ミス＆ケアレスミス

語数オーバーやスペルミスなど、ご本人が気づいていないところで点数を落としているのかもしれません。正直もったいないです。。。

この短い英作文の中にも、同じ文法ミスがいくつかあります。

・動詞が抜けている、または1文に動詞が２つ入っている（イントロなど）

・複数形にすべきところが単数（cardとcardsが混在している）

・比較級のthan

・becauseやsinceなどの接続詞がない　など

また、Body1で、even if it is Japanese tradition の一文がありますが、これは逆サイドをサポートする理由なので不要です。

文法が苦手な人のライティング直前対策

文法を総復習するのが理想ですが、本番まで1か月弱でそんな暇はないので、対処療法的ですが、今すぐできることをいくつか考えてみました。

文を短く、シンプルにする

英作文の1文を短くし、ミスを最小限にしましょう。試験でかっこいい英作文を書く必要はありません。短い文でも正確な文であれば、その方が分かりやすく、点数も上がります。こちらの記事の英作文が良いお手本です。

基本単語と短いセンテンスでここまで書ける！ロボットはもっと身近に？英検2級ライティング予想問題

模範解答を音読する

ライティング過去問や模範解答を音読しましょう。自分で考えるより真似した方が早くうまく書けるようになります。音読することによってより理解しやすくなるのでおすすめです。また、音読は２次試験対策にもなります。（2次試験はライティングとそっくりだから）英検に申し込むと無料で使えるスタディギアにもいくつか模範解答があるのでやってみてください。

使える表現をストックする

音読する際に、使える表現を書きだしてストックしましょう。単語を入れ替えればたいていのTOPICに使えるような万能表現はたくさんあります。例えば、It is good/easy/difficult for people to …（～するのは人々にとって良い/簡単だ/難しい）のような表現を、本番で確実に使えるように練習しておきます。当日は手持ちの表現を組み合わせ、ミスを最小限に抑えましょう。

短めの英作文でも構わない

とにかく80語あればOKなので、余分なことは書かず、シンプルに仕上げましょう。

内容・構成はだいたい良いのですが、文法間違いがよくあります。

今回はみんなが苦手な品詞

を取り上げたいと思います。

年賀状を送らない派の英作文例

I agree with the idea that people who stop sending New Year’s cards would increase in the future.

First of all, we use text messages more useful than the cards. Therefore, we wouldn’t want to choice the cards which no useful. And then, we may become lost one of culture on The New Year.

Secondly, recently everyone thinks that their address is very important personal information, so anyone does not hope to pass it. As a result, we don’t write the cards these days.

In conclusion, I believe that more people would stop sending New Year’s cards.

年賀状よりメール派のエッセイですね。

内容・構成は良いのですが、文法まちがいがぽろぽろあります。まずは品詞の問題点からみてみましょう。

形容詞・副詞・名詞・動詞を区別しよう

例えば Body1 3行目の choice は正しくは choose です。want to の後ろは動詞の原形にならなければなりません。なぜなら、want toはto不定詞で、to不定詞の後ろは動詞の原形と決まっているので、名詞であるchoiceは使えません。

choice 選択（名詞）

choose 選ぶ（動詞）

また、Body1 ２行目の usefulは形容詞。形容詞はbe動詞と共に使って主語を説明したり、名詞にくっつけて名詞を説明する役割があります。しかし、ここでは、use text messages と、動詞use を説明するために使いたいので、usefullyという副詞の形でなければなりません。（意味的にはそれでもしっくりはきません）

品詞を正しく区別しないと正しい文章は書けません。まずは以下の４つの品詞を区別できること、正しい位置に置くことができることが大切です。

形容詞
副詞
名詞
動詞

単数・複数の使い分け

Body2 2行目の their address is は their addresses are と複数になります。英語では、名詞の単数・複数、数えられるのかかぞえられないのか、で書き方が変わってきます。ぜひ英検本番までに文法書を一読し、品詞の違いや名詞の単複の違いを復習してください。

内容はわかりやすく書けているので、まずは品詞を区別できるように本を読み直してみてください。

今回は「年賀状やめる派」の英作文です。

まずは、トピックをおさらいしましょう。

年賀状を送る人は減ると思いますか？

年賀状をやめる理由としては、次のようなものが考えられます。

・手間とお金がかかりすぎる

・最近は個人情報を交換しないので、そもそも年賀状を出しにくい

・新年のあいさつはe-mailやSNSで充分だ

I think that people who stop sending New-years cards to their family and friends will increase in the future. There are two reasons I feel this way.

First, sending New-years cards is very difficult for people. They don’t have time to send New-years card.

Second, peple have to pay a lot of money to send New-years cards. They usually send about fifty New-years cards. so they have to buy many expensive cards.

There are the reasons why l think people who stop sending New-years cards to their family and friends will increase in the future.

TFさんは中2だそうです。中２でこれだけ書けるのは素晴らしいですね。

前回の2級はライティングが足をひっぱり、残念ながら不合格だったそうです。次回リベンジしたいですね。

まずは、New-yearsはハイフンはいらないのですが（これは私のミス。すみません(>_<)、year’s のアポストロフィはあった方がよいので、New Year’s cardsにしてください。アポストロフィは、「新年の」の「の」にあたるような意味で、所有を表しています。

英作文の内容は悪くないのですが、同じワードが何度も出てきて単調なため、内容が薄い印象を与えています。動詞は sendだけでなく、書くwrite、買うbuy などを必要に応じて使い分けましょう。

例えば、Body1は「時間がない」ということが言いたいので、年賀状を書くには時間がかかる→でも仕事や勉強が忙しくて時間がない、のように書いてみたらいかがでしょうか？

First, it takes a lot of time to write New Year’s cards. These days, people are very busy for work and studies. So they can not find time to write New Year’s cards.

また、Body2では、年賀状にお金がかかることが具体的に書いてはあるのですが、年賀状の平均枚数50枚というのはあまり根拠がないので、思い切って自分を例にするのもわかりやすいです。例えばこんな感じはどうでしょうか。

Second, New Year’s cards are so expensive that people do not want to buy them. For example, I bought fifty cards last year and they were about three thousand yen. That was too expensive for a junior high school student.

Conclusionは最後のまとめ部分にあたるので、まとめだとハッキリわかるように For these reasons, や In conclusion, などのつなぎ語を使いましょう。

For these reasons, I think that more people will stop sending New Year’s cards.

年賀状を送り続ける理由としては、次のようなものが考えられます。

・年賀状は伝統なので、簡単にはなくならない

・友人親戚と交流する良い機会

・新年らしさを感じる

こちらは、ゆかりさんが送ってくださったエッセイです。

・赤字は直した方がよい部分です。

I don’t agree with the idea that the number of people who stop sendind New-year’s cards to their family and friends will increase in the future. I have two opinions to support my opinion.

Firstly, it’s our tradition that has lasted for a long time. It becomes part of our habit, so many people will keep sending New-year’s cards.

Secondly, it’s a good oppotunity to contact friends whom we haven’t met for a while. Many people are so busy that they can’t have enough time to contact their friends. Sending New-year’s cards helps them reconnect to their friends.

For these reason, I think many people will keep sending New-year’s cards.

スペルミスが時々あるのがもったいです。

sendind　→　sending

oppotunity 　→　opportunity

また、Introの最初の opinions は reasons の間違いですね。もったいない凡ミスです。

Body1の　habit は custom の方がよいと思います。理由は、

habit = 個人の癖、習慣

custom = 社会の習慣

なので、年賀状は custom　が適当かと思います。

Conlusionは、理由２つをまとめるので、For these reasons, と複数形にしてください。

語数制限に注意

ゆかりさんの英作文でひとつだけ気になるのが語数です。

この英作文は110語あります。語数は80-100字となっているので10語オーバー。語数オーバーがどの程度の減点対象かわかりませんが、ルールとして与えられている以上は守るのが基本。語数不足＆オーバーには気をつけましょう！
