みなさん、こんにちは。

予想トピックで英作文を書いてみる企画です。今回は教育カテゴリの「9月入学」を取り上げます。

日本では４月に入学式があるのが当たり前です。でも、世界的に見ると入学時期はいろいろです。アメリカなど、秋入学の国が多く、その他にも2月や５月など、その国の事情に合わせて、学校制度は様々です。

日本でもこれまでに何度か秋入学が検討されたことがあります。日本の学校も世界のメジャーな国に合わせて９月にすべきでしょうか。この問題で英作文を作ってみましょう。

日本の学校は9月入学にシフトすべきか

「9月入学」に賛成する理由

・世界では9月入学の国が多い。（アメリカ、イギリス、フランス、ロシア、中国）
A school year in major countries starts in September

・日本の学生が留学しやすくなる
Japanese students can study abroad more easily.

・日本の大学も留学生を集めやすくなり、経済に良い影響がある
Japanese universities would be able to attract more international students easily. It has a positive impact on the Japanese economy.

以上をもとに英作文を書いてみました。

英作文例（2級：80-100語）

I think Japanese schools should start in September. There are two reasons why I think so.   First of all, in major countries the school year starts in September. Those countries include the US, France and China. If Japanese schools start in September, Japanese students can study in those countries more easily. Secondly, it is also good for Japanese universities. They can attract more international students. Their revenue will increase and it has a positive impact on the Japanese economy. For these reasons, Japanese schools should change the start of the school year from April to September. (96語）

対訳：日本の学校は9月入学にすべきです。理由は２つ。
まず、メジャーな国では9月入学が多い。これらの国はアメリカ、フランス、中国など。日本も9月入学にすれば、これらの国へ留学しやすくなる。
2つめの理由は、日本の大学にも良い。日本の大学は留学生を集めやすくなる。収入が増え、日本経済にも良い影響がある。
以上により、日本も学期の始まりを4月から9月に変更すべきだ。

英作文例（準1級：120-150語）

There is no denying that shifting the start of the school year from April to September would cause confusion and disruption. However, the change has a positive impact on both students and schools. First of all, more students would be encouraged to study abroad. An academic year in major countries starts in September. Such countries include the US, the UK, France and China. If Japanese schools start in September, Japanese high school students would be able to go to college in those countries without wasting time. Students exchange programs would also be conducted more smoothly. Also, Japanese colleges would be more competitive for international students. If they can attract more excellent students internationally, it will help globalize Japanese educational system. It would also stimulate the industries and contribute to revitalization of the Japanese economy. Taking these reasons into consideration, Japanese school year should start in September instead of April. (148語）

対訳：学期の始まりを4月から9月へ変更すれば、混乱が起こることは否定できない。しかし、その変化は生徒、学校ともに良いインパクトをもたらすだろう。
まずより多くの学生が留学しやすくなる。メジャーな国では9月スタートが多い。アメリカ、イギリス、フランス、中国などが含まれる。日本が9月スタートになれば、日本の高校生はこれらの国の大学に、時間をムダにすることなく行くことができる。交換留学制度もよりスムーズに行われるだろう。
また、日本の大学も留学生に対してより競争力が増す。優秀な留学生を惹きつけることができれば、日本の教育システムをグローバル化することもできる。また産業を刺激し、日本経済の復活に貢献できるだろう。
それらを考慮すると、日本の新学期は４月より9月にすべきだ。
